Overview

Work/Life (Imbalance) is an informational poster highlighting how much time I spent in and out of work during my fall reading week of 2024. As my final Information Design class project, I decided to challenge myself by using various mediums such as photography to build a poster people would be inclined to read.

The challenge

The main challenge of this project was communicating data in a way that was not only visually interesting, but clear and easy to understand.

Solution

Type hierarchy, composition, and the data sets used in this poster all helped to create a cohesive, legible, and undeniably fun final product.

One feature of this poster that I am particularly proud of is the usage of the computer motif as a way to organize and frame data. Specifically, the computer mouse's wire allowed me to represent linear data, while the computer window above served as a practical way to frame geographic data. Additionally, the form of the computer itself offered two separate "containers" to frame data with, and worked as a focal point for the piece.

Overall, the computer motif concept served as a playful way to incorporate data in ways beyond the standard table and columns.
